FormuVet
questions, answered
The veterinary drug formulary and dose calculator app for dogs and cats.
What is FormuVet?
FormuVet is a veterinary drug formulary and clinical calculator app for vets and vet nurses. It gives weight-based drug doses for dogs and cats in mg and mL, plus fluid, CRI, transfusion, emergency and chemotherapy calculators, clinical protocols and an AI case interpreter.
Who is FormuVet for?
Veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and technicians, and veterinary students, especially in small animal practice and emergency and critical care.
Which species does FormuVet cover?
Dogs and cats. The formulary lists more than 500 medications with species-specific doses.
Does FormuVet work offline?
Yes. The drug formulary and the clinical calculators work without an internet connection, so they still work in a consult room or theatre with no signal. The AI features need a connection.
Which calculators does FormuVet include?
Fluid therapy (maintenance, deficit, losses and drip rates), constant rate infusions (CRI), blood transfusion, chemotherapy dosing by body surface area, crash cart CPR drug doses, seizure protocols, calorie requirements (RER and MER), blood gas, osmolarity, chocolate toxicity and gestation dates.
Where do FormuVet's drug doses come from?
The formulary was checked against the BSAVA Small Animal Formulary (11th edition), Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook (9th edition), the Merck Veterinary Manual, UK VMD product information and the NOAH Compendium, plus ACVIM, ISFM, ABCD and RECOVER guidance. FormuVet is independent and is not endorsed by these publishers. Always confirm doses against the current product data sheet and your own clinical judgement.
How much does FormuVet cost?
FormuVet is free to download. Full access needs a subscription, either monthly with a 7-day free trial or annual.
Which devices does FormuVet run on?
Android phones and tablets through Google Play, iPhone and iPad through the App Store, and any computer through the FormuVet desktop web app.
Is FormuVet practice management software?
No. FormuVet is a point-of-care reference and time-saver for doses, calculations and protocols. It does not handle bookings, billing or client records, so it works alongside whatever practice management system a clinic already uses.
